On this episode of Start Up the Science, we spoke with Chris Wessendorf of memetis!
Memetis was founded in 2017 by Christoph Wessendorf, Dr. Marcel Gültig, Dr. Christof Megnin and Dr. Hinnerk Oßmer as a spin-off from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Their core technology is the development of ultracompact actuators made of thin foils of Shape Memory Alloys (SMA) that can be used for applications where movement in small dimensions is required e.g. in locking mechanisms. With these Shape Memory Alloy actuators, memetis is, amongst others, manufacturing miniature valves that allow for small and especially flat fluidic systems in various industries, e.g. Life Sciences, Robotics, etc.
