If you would like to know what an Investment Manager is looking for, this expert episode will most probably pique your interest.
This month's expert is Dr. Marie Asano, an investment manager at High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF).
HTGF is a public-private venture capital investment firm based in Germany. They are an early stage seed investor, focused on high potential high-tech start-ups.
In this episode, we ask Marie to explain what aspects of a startup herself and other investors are specifically looking for. Her expertise, of course, is mainly in Chemistry startups but a lot of her advice is universal and can be adapted to any kind of startup.
Marie is one of our go-to investors whenever we have an Investor's Workshop or Demo Day. Since her educational background is in science (chemistry to be exact), her feedback to our deep tech startups is always relevant and on-point. We appreciate whenever she is able to participate in our events and we are also super thankful that she took time out to speak to us on this podcast.
To learn more about HTGF, head to their website: HTGF Website

This week's episode features Tanya Colonna and Hobey Tam of BlackTop Labs.
BlackTop Labs is set to become the new standard of care in personalized athletic training optimization. Their first product is a patent-pending diagnostic decision-making tool that bridges the current technology gap between standard data collection techniques and personalized care with advanced micro-electronics and smart system integration technology. Currently, physical therapists and athletic trainers are bound to generalized training methods. BlackTop Labs' technology is the first medical-grade tool of its kind to measure the patient’s neuromuscular response to treatment while seamlessly integrating into the clinical workflow, adding a major, currently overlooked dimension to decision-making.
INAM met BlackTop Labs through this year's AdMaCamp program where they walked away with the Best Pitch prize. Their story of how they began their startup journey is truly captivating and we hope you find it as intereting as we did!
They are currently looking for the following:
Angel investors and accelerator programs with a focus on Sports Technology/connected athletes
Anyone who works with strength training – powerlifters, body builders, CrossFitters, or general strength and conditioning coaches that are interested in hearing more about our product and potentially beta testing our product at the end of this year
Research Institutes that have a heavy focus on human movement science, exercise physiology, orthopedic rehabilitation, and neurological diseases like Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, and ataxia.
If you fall into one of these categories, email us info@inam.berlin and we will gladly put you in touch with the team personally.

Monday May 18, 2020
Monday May 18, 2020
We are happy to have been able to connect with Firas Khalifeh, the CEO and Co-Founder of Carbon Mobile.
Carbon was created to accelerate the world's transition to advanced composite materials in personal electronics. They believe that slabs of plastic and aluminum should not be in our pockets and that plastic electronics damage our future by causing many millions of tons of e-waste each year. Carbon Mobile replaces those materials with advanced composites to create the sustainable, lighter, thinner and stronger devices of the future.

S2 Episode 13: Graphenest | Mass Producing High Quality Graphene
Monday May 04, 2020
Monday May 04, 2020
This week's episode of Start Up the Science features Vitor Abrantes, the CEO and one of the founders of Graphenest.
Graphenest has patented both a method and device for the production of graphene nanoplatelets and their use can be extended to the production of other graphene-like materials. They have found a way to exfoliate graphene (that is sourced from 14 different locations) which then results in high-quality graphene nanoplatelets which can be produced in a variety of grades and forms for different applications.
Graphenest has been a part of the INAM network since 2017 when they took part in that year's AdMaCom program. Since then, they have been rapidly growing not only in numbers but also by square meters! Their beautiful facility in Portugal opened early this year and they are ready and open for business on a big scale!
