S3E16: MQS | A service solution for the Pharma, Biotech and Chemical Industries
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
Tuesday Sep 07, 2021
Molecular Quantum Solutions (MQS) was founded in December 2019 by Mark Nicholas Jones (CEO) and Lukasz Ruszczynski (CTO) who know each other from their EU funded PhD projects (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/675251) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). During the final project conference they had the idea to start MQS to use the acquired knowledge from their PhDs, combine it and implement a full fledged software as a service solution for the pharma, biotech and chemical industries.
Grown tired of using inflexible software in the chemical engineering domain which feel outdated in comparison to many tools in signal processing and artificial intelligence applications, Mark and Lukasz want to deliver modern and future computational tools to accelerate research & development efforts by the pharma, biotech and chemical industry. Their tools include the use of high-performance computing and quantum-computers with quantum chemistry models and machine learning to calculate the properties of materials and chemicals in a fast and efficient way.
Find out more about MQS by visiting http://mqs.dk/

S3E15: GrOwnValve | Saving lives one heart valve at a time
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
Tuesday Aug 24, 2021
1.35 million babies are born with a congenital heart defect each year. Of these, 400,000 have heart valve defects but there is no durable valve replacement on the market. GrOwnValve aims to fulfill that unmet clinical need.
GrOwnValve is a pre-clinical stage medical device company, developing a unique heart valve prosthesis system. Their completely new prosthetic valve for adults and children, will be implanted using a low-risk transcatheter technique.
The valves will come to market as a procedure pack that enables a safe, affordable and easy-to-use minimally invasive heart valve replacement made from the patient’s own tissue. Using the patient’s own endogenous tissue gives the valves lifelong durability – a once-in-a-lifetime solution that is affordable for patients and healthcare providers worldwide.
Dr. Boris Schmitt is the CEO and Co-Founder of GrOwnValve. He is a Pediatric Cardiologist and a Senior Consultant at Charité University Medicine Berlin.

Infineon's Open Innovation Challenge for Thermal Interface Materials
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
Wednesday Aug 18, 2021
As the market leader in power modules, Infineon challenges YOU to develop a thermal interface material solution for highly reliable and best in class power modules.
Power Modules are found in general purpose drives, traction, servo-units and renewable energy applications like solar inverters, energy storage systems or wind applications and more. They cover a wide range of a few hundred Watts to several Megawatts.
However, with the ongoing demand and system requirement to increase the power density in power electronics, the thermal interface between power module and heatsink becomes an even more important role. A thermal interface material must not only provide the lowest thermal resistance, but also fulfil the highest quality standards given for power modules to achieve the longest lifetime and highest system reliability.
The challenge is open to startups and researchers with an innovative technology, material or process, that could be used to address the described challenge.
